Dr. Beck believes that each patient is unique and, realizing that all patients respond differently to treatment, she tailors their care based on a variety of treatment options incorporating medication management, TMS therapy, psychotherapy, diet, and exercise. Dr. Beck is excited to be the first psychiatrist in Northern California's "Wine Country" (Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Counties) to offer this cutting edge treatment of depression. While the exact cause of depression is not known, the leading scientific theory is that depression is caused by an imbalance of the brain's neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that send signals between brain cells. Depression is most often treated with antidepressant medications. It is believed that antidepressant medications work by increasing the levels of these neurotransmitters. Read more about depression here.
